Books by I Remember Me Publishing:
I Remember Me Publishing is a project from the heart that started with a simple phrase that our mother uttered one day when she was asked if she remembers a few things from her past. She couldn't remember those specific things, but she softly spoke the phrase, "No, but I remember me."
In addition to the "I Remember Me - The Mom Chronicles" book which is a guide for caregivers through all stages of Alzheimer's, we have two children's series covering the most prominent behaviors noticed by children in the three main stages (the beginning, the middle and the late stages.)
Families can choose a "Grandma" or a "Grandpa" series. The stories are the same with the exception of one scene. The Grandma series has a "pink flamingo in a garden" scene in the "Beginning" book, and the Grandpa series has a fishing scene in the "Beginning" book. Stanzas and images were edited slightly for each version.
Little Dreya has been noticing that her grandma is acting funny, but she doesn’t know why. Her parents explain that all these funny and strange behaviors are a result of Alzheimer’s. In this first book, Dreya notices that Grandma forgets her name, loses track of things, and asks questions over and over again. Join Dreya as she shares these behaviors plus a few other things about the Beginning Stage of Alzheimer’s.

Little Dreya’s grandma is still acting funny and strange. She learns that her grandma is now moving into the Middle Stage of Alzheimer’s. In this second book of the series, Dreya shares some of these behaviors, such as how her grandma got lost one day, doesn’t want to take baths and doesn’t like to eat her broccoli anymore. Join Dreya and her whimsical family as she describes how she feels when she notices these unusual behaviors.

Little Dreya’s grandma is now in the Late Stage of Alzheimer’s and her funny and strange behavior continues. In this third and final book of the series, Dreya shares how her grandma puts her clothes on backwards, forgets simple tasks like how to eat, and doesn’t talk clearly anymore. Join Dreya as she shares these and other behaviors about the Late Stage of Alzheimer’s.

Reviews
Grandma is Acting Funny
“The message paired with the illustrations creates a great introductory conversation for kids that is both comfortable and relatable, easing them into a better understanding of behaviors that accompany most dementias!”
~Jenni Knutson, Certified Dementia Provider
Grandma is Acting Funny
“When an elderly grandparent starts acting differently or strangely, it is so hard for a young grandson or granddaughter to understand that Grandma still loves them and not to be afraid. This book lovingly explains the stages of Alzheimer’s Behaviors in a way that young children can understand. This book is a gift of knowledge and lessons learned from the author who has lived through these stages with her own mother.”
~Rosemary Manges, Grandmother and Retired Education Consultant
I Remember Me - The Mom Chronicles
Within the first 5 pages I related to this adventure! I was lost and clueless as to how to help and understand a family member beginning this journey. Step by step chronicle with references from someone who traveled this road is priceless to me! Very well written, understandable, Lori's insight, her struggles and frustrations, her love and dedication are precise! Easy read, with pictures and QR codes. Highly recommend to anyone just starting on this journey with a Family member!

I Remember Me - The Mom Chronicles
This is the best written book! When I started going through the Alz journey with my Father I was recommended by a long time friend to friend Lori on FB as she was journaling via FB her experiences she was currently going through with her Mom. I was so helpful to walk through part of the journey with her through her chronicles. This book includes all of that great information/support as well as her looking back on things and what could have been different or changed. I highly recommend this book for someone who is caring for someone with this disease or even if you have someone you care about who is the caregiver. Thank you Lori for sharing your Mom Chronicles with us and putting it into a book to help so many more people understand this journey.

I Remember Me - The Mom Chronicles
I enjoyed this book immensely. It has great information for caregivers, but it's all told through the journal of this one amazing caregiver, Lori. I felt so connected to Lori and her mom, and I am so grateful she shared her mother's journey through Alzheimer's with us. I laughed, I cried, and I learned a heck of a lot. Definitely give this book a read, you won't regret it!

Dr. Lori Aden is an educator by trade with over 30 years of experience in K12 and higher education. With a master's degree in Education Technology and a doctorate in Teacher Leadership, Lori used her education experience to research Alzheimer's caregiving from many different perspectives while caring for her mother. Lori successfully completed the EssentialALZ@ Alzheimer's Association Training and Certification program to become a more knowledgeable advocate for Alzheimer's caregiving and education. She works full-time as a program coordinator for one of the largest education service centers in Texas and part-time as an adjunct instructor for a community college. However, her proudest roles are wife, sister, mom, and nana. Most importantly, she is the devoted daughter of Marylin, who is the inspiration behind this book series and her first book, "I Remember Me - The Mom Chronicles."
Sheila Parsley, sister of co-author Lori, earned a master's degree in Counseling and has worked in the mental health field for over 23 years. Sheila successfully completed the EssentialALZ@ Alzheimer's Association Training and Certification program. When she is not working, she can be found reading or in the kitchen baking for family and friends with her Texas Cottage Bakery business called "Treasured Treats and Trinkets." She loves all things dragons and was the inspiration behind using a whimsical dragon family for this book series. Sheila was an integral part of the caregiving for her mother, Marylin. She would drive to Dallas every other weekend for over six years to spend valuable time with her mom and give her sister and brother-in-law respite breaks.
